About Jimi Demetriou

Alpha

I grew up in Upstate New York. Part apple country, part dairy country and part NYC suburban idealism.

School

In 2005 I moved to Philadelphia. My excuse was to study mechanical engineering at Drexel. After a couple years I lost interest and went to cooking school and got an AS in Culinary Arts.

Work

I've been writing music since I got my first guitar in secondary school. Since then I put out a couple self recorded disks. Some of those tracks are still up here.

During my last months at Drexel I started painting, as I progressed through the levels of awareness.

The days are now left to explore as a creative. By night I work as a line cook in the fine dining scene in Philadelphia. I write about food at Rooftop Kitchen.

Life

I am currently in a relationship and reside in West Philadelphia. A hint of my days and my travels can be seen through my photos.

Things I enjoy: tea, quiet instrumentals, candles, drowsy weather, cilantro, tomatoes

The Site

Jimidemetriou.com has been up since October 2006. At the time I had a separate site for my music and started this site to work on php scripts. Eventually for content I published images of paintings, developing a CMS from those scripts. In march 2009 I let the scripts go and switched ExpressionEngine.

Thank you for opening that door on those callow mornings. I miss taste testing the little meatballs on a toothpick. And for the loan of life, thank you.
